Garrett Wilson is being undervalued in fantasy football drafts this year. In this article, I will make a case for why Garrett Wilson is poised to smash his ADP.

2025 Season: The Bad

Injuries and a terrible offensive environment plagued Wilson's 2025 season. Let's start with his injuries, then discuss the team's offensive woes.

In week 6, Wilson suffered a knee sprain and missed weeks seven and eight. He returned in week 10 only to reaggravate the injury and missed the rest of the season.

The Jets offense in 2025 was the worst passing offense by a significant amount. The Jets threw for 2,385 passing yards in 2025; the Cleveland Browns were second-worst in the league, throwing for 2,808 passing yards. The Jets also tied the Titans for the fewest passing touchdowns with 15. Per SumerSports.com, the Jets offense ranked 29th in EPA/Pass and Total EPA.

Do you really remember how bad the Jets' offensive passing attack was? Do you remember when they passed for a combined 107 passing yards in two games against the Bills? Or when they passed for 42 yards against the Browns in Week 10? Or when they somehow passed for -10 yards against the Broncos in Week six?! Side note: Garrett Wilson was injured in two of these games.

Wilson was in literally the worst possible passing environment last year. Were there any positives to build on?

2025 Season: The Good

Wilson had some positives in 2025 despite how much he was set up to fail, despite getting hurt midgame twice last year. Wilson averaged 14.2 fantasy PPG, which was good for the 15th-best WR on a per-game basis in 2025. However, if you remove the games he got injured in, Wilson averaged 19.04 PPG, which would rank fifth in fantasy points per game, right behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and ahead of Rashee Rice.

The predictive stats back up Wilson's top-five fantasy PPG finish in games he didn't get hurt in last year. Per HashtagFootball.com, he had a 29.1% target share last year, which was second in the NFL behind only Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Wilson's pace numbers for 2025 based on the 5 games he finished: 163 targets, 112 catches, 1,298 yards, 13 touchdowns. His ranks among WRs if the season played out that way: targets T-4th, catches 4th, yards 5th, touchdowns 2nd.

Wilson is an elite talent and an elite target earner. What would it look like if his quarterback was upgraded?

2026 Upgrades

The Jets QB situation was abysmal in 2025. They rotated between Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor, and somebody named Brady Cook. Fields led that group in QBR with an 89.5 score. Fields' passing woes have been well documented throughout his career, and they did not improve last season. Wilson's production, given his QB situation, was incredible.

When you dive deeper into Wilson's career, you uncover more bad QB play. He has had no consistency from his passers, and despite this, he has continued to put up elite fantasy numbers.

In steps Geno Smith to save Garrett Wilson from terrible QB play. The Jets traded for Geno this offseason from the Raiders. Geno should be a massive passing upgrade for Wilson in the 2026 season, and they seem to be building a strong connection early in camp.

Despite this QB upgrade, it's important to note that the Jets did draft two offensive pass catchers in the first round of the 2026 draft. TE Kenyon Sadiq has been sidelined after hernia surgery in May, and Omar Cooper Jr. has struggled through camp but appears to be turning the corner. I don't think these additions will eat much into Wilson's workload. Frank Reich has called Wilson a "bellcow" throughout the preseason.

2026 Outlook

Currently, Wilson is being drafted as the 18th WR in PPR and the 39th overall player per FantasyPros. LFX currently has Wilson ranked as the 16th WR in PPR formats; I rank Wilson as my WR9. Drafters should consider Wilson ahead of both Drake London and Chris Olave.
