FTO’S FBB Weekly Edge Report: September 14 – September 20

Welcome back to another edition of the our Fantasy Baseball Weekly Edge Report, where we break down everything you need to know for the upcoming week of season-long fantasy baseball.

We're entering the final few weeks of the fantasy baseball season, which means every at-bat, stolen base, and pitching matchup becomes increasingly important. At this point in the season, maximizing playing time and finding favorable schedules can be just as important as simply rostering the most talented players.

As always, we'll cover the weekly schedule, weather outlook, teams to target, and waiver wire pickups to help you gain an edge.

🗺️ Schedule Breakdown

One of the easiest ways to create an advantage in weekly leagues is by simply getting more plate appearances. This week, we have nine teams slated to play seven games, while several others are limited to just five or six.

👉 Remember: These teams give you max volume. That may not sound significant, but it represents roughly a 17% increase in opportunity compared to a six-game schedule.

The Dodgers stand out as the best combination of volume and offensive talent, with four games against the Reds before returning home for three against the Giants. San Diego also gets seven games, including a four-game series at Coors Field before returning home to face Miami.

Detroit and Chicago also benefit from seven-game weeks, although their matchups are less attractive on paper. The Mets are another team worth watching with three games against Baltimore followed by four against Philadelphia.

On the other side, several strong offenses are limited to six games. That doesn't mean you should automatically bench your stars, but when choosing between similarly ranked players, the extra game can be a meaningful tiebreaker this late in the season.

🌦️Weather Notes

As we move deeper into September, the biggest weather trend to watch is the transition away from the extreme heat of the summer months. Cooler temperatures across much of the country can slightly suppress offensive production compared to the hottest weeks of the season, making lineup quality and ballpark environment even more important when making close decisions.

Rain and thunderstorms can still create problems, particularly across the Midwest and Northeast, although the overall threat should be less consistent than it was during the heart of summer. Managers in weekly leagues should pay particular attention to teams playing multiple outdoor games in areas where late-season fronts could create postponement or delay risks.

The good news is that the current forecast window is still early, so there is plenty of time for conditions to change before the weekend. Continue monitoring weather throughout the week, especially if you're relying on fringe hitters or streaming pitchers where losing one game can have a meaningful impact on your matchup.

🔥Top Stacks to Target

Here are a few teams that are in favorable spots for the upcoming week:

⚾ Dodgers (@ CIN, @ MIA, vs SF)

The Dodgers are our favorite overall stack this week. They get seven games, beginning with four games in Cincinnati before heading to Miami for three. Great American Ball Park remains one of the most attractive offensive environments in baseball, and the Dodgers' combination of power, on-base ability, and lineup depth makes them extremely difficult to avoid.

The biggest concern is the recent injury situation surrounding the lineup. Shohei Ohtani has been placed on the injured list and is expected to miss at least the start of this week, but Los Angeles is calling up top prospect Josue De Paula to help fill the void. De Paula has posted a .303 average with 27 home runs and 31 stolen bases in the minors this season, giving the Dodgers another intriguing offensive option.

⚾ Padres (@ COL, vs MIA)

The Padres are another team we want exposure to this week. They get four games at Coors Field before returning home for three against the Marlins, giving their hitters both volume and favorable hitting environments.

San Diego's offense has also been heating up at the right time. Jackson Merrill just erupted for two home runs and a triple while driving in six runs against Washington, bringing his season home-run total to 24. With Fernando Tatis Jr., Merrill, and the rest of this lineup, there is plenty of upside to go around.

⚾ Tigers (@ TOR, @ CWS)

The Tigers are an interesting under-the-radar stack this week because they combine seven games with a particularly appealing four-game series against the White Sox. Detroit opens the week with three games in Toronto before heading to Chicago.

The Tigers don't have the same obvious ceiling as the Dodgers or Padres, but seven games gives their everyday hitters plenty of opportunities to accumulate runs, RBI, and extra-base hits. If you're looking for a lower-rostered stack with volume on its side, Detroit is worth considering.

🎯Waiver Wire Targets

We always want to be aggressive on the waiver wire. Here are a few players/situations that we are keeping a close eye on:

⚾ Héctor Rodríguez, 24% owned, remains one of our favorite power-upside additions. The Reds outfielder has already hit five home runs in limited Major League action and has shown plenty of upside since joining Cincinnati. He's hitting .293 over his last 10 games and gets the benefit of a seven-game week that includes four games against the Dodgers at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park.

⚾ Heriberto Hernández, 45% owned, continues to be an intriguing source of power and speed. He has 24 home runs and 11 stolen bases on the season, despite hitting just .228, and has already shown the ability to produce in bunches. Hernández's combination of power and speed makes him particularly useful for fantasy managers trying to make up ground in either category during the final weeks of the season.

⚾ Ty France, 31% owned, has quietly put together an excellent 2026 season with San Diego. He's hitting .290 with 20 home runs, 62 RBI, and an .867 OPS, making him a strong option for managers looking for reliable production at first base. The Padres' seven-game schedule, including four games at Coors Field, makes France particularly appealing this week.

⚾ Mickey Gasper, 24% owned, remains an interesting deeper-league option because of his recent power surge and positional flexibility. Gasper has three home runs over his last 10 games and is sporting a .978 OPS during September. While playing time needs to be monitored, the recent production is strong enough to make him worth a look in leagues where catchers or corner-infield options are difficult to find.

🧠 Final Thoughts

We are officially entering the final stretch of the fantasy baseball season, which means there is very little time left to wait on players or worry about what might happen down the road. At this point, the goal should be maximizing every available opportunity.

The Dodgers and Padres are our favorite offenses to target this week, with both teams offering seven-game schedules and plenty of offensive upside. Detroit is another team worth considering for managers looking for additional volume, while the waiver wire should be focused on players who can immediately contribute rather than long-term upside.

👉 Remember: Don't be afraid to make aggressive moves at this point in the season. If you're fighting for a championship, a player who gives you five or six quality games this week is often more valuable than a higher-upside player who may not have consistent playing time. Every stolen base, home run, and quality start matters now.
