Jacob deGrom Tosses Six Shutout Innings on Sunday

Texas Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom was dominant on Sunday against the Cleveland Guardians, going six innings, allowing three hits, zero earned runs, two walks, and six strikeouts on 10 whiffs (six on his change-up) and a 29 percent CSW rate. While deGrom had zero whiffs on his four-seamer on Sunday, he is still averaging 97.2 mph on his fastball (89th percentile) and generating a healthy 30.1 percent strikeout rate and 34.2 percent whiff rate, while keeping the walks to a minimum (5 percent).

Something fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on with deGrom moving forward is that he is allowing extremely loud contact, evident by his 91.7 percent average exit velocity (4th percentile), 11.3 percent barrel rate (11th percentile), and a 47.6 percent hard-hit rate(7th percentile). Additionally, he is allowing a .265 batting average on his four-seamer with a .588 slugging percentage.

That being said, deGrom still owns a solid 3.18 ERA and 0.99 WHIP on the season with 84 strikeouts in 70 ⅔ innings pitched, making him one of the more reliable arms in fantasy baseball.
