Steelers rookie ready for the big lights

Aaron Rodgers doesn’t seem to want to ride off into the sunset. And he can still play at a high level in some moments. It would be fitting if he could have one more big season left in him.
Last year certainly was a struggle all around for the Steelers offense. DK Metcalf had one of his worst seasons and looked downright bad at times. Do we really think that’s who he is now? I’m inclined to say no. Michael Pittman Jr. was brought in from the Colts to provide a veterans stability that is much needed. He runs good routes, catches what’s thrown to him, and raises the floor of this offense considerably.
Enter: Germie Bernard
The rookie wideout from Alabama was taken in the 2nd round by the Steelers in the draft. He’s already impressing in camp, earning the nickname “Unc” since he carries himself like a vet.
He looks poised to take over slot duties for the team. And it’s a good role to have for a receiver as talented as Bernard. Defenses will not be able to leave Metcalf or Pittman, giving him prime matchups against weaker defenders, who he should cook 1-on-1.
I have even heard some people compare Bernard to Randall Cobb, which should get you to perk up. Aaron Rodgers and Cobb had a bromance for years, with Cobb serving as his permanent slot man. If Bernard can fill that role even half of his snaps, he should outperform his draft slot fairly easily.
A lot of rookies wide receivers are getting more buzz. Let them be taken early. Sit back and wait for Bernard, while you fill out the rest of your team needs. Let’s see if that chemistry with Rodgers can keep building.
