LAB REPORTS
Bullpen Notes🗒️(8/27)
WSN: Tom Cosgrove came on in the 5th with a 3-1 lead, one out, and runners on first and second. He would get an out, walk the bases loaded, and get the final out. He returned and pitched a perfect 6th. He would be credited with a win. With a 4-1 lead in the 7th Erik Tolman got a couple outs and let two on. Clayton Beeter would get the final out and pitch a perfect 8th. Both guys picked up holds. They opened up a 7-1 lead and Orlando Ribalta pitched the 9th without allowing a run. Beeter's usage prior to the 9th makes it tough to call him the closer and the teams recent losing streak makes rostering anyone in the bullpen difficult.
STL: Bullpen game with Gordon Graceffo starting and going three shutout innings. Justin Bruihl pitched the 4th and got two outs in the 5th while allowing a run. Luis Gastelum got the final out of the 5th and pitched a perfect 6th. He ended up picking up the win. With a 6-1 lead in the 7th Caleb Ferguson pitched an allowed a three run homer. In the 8th George Soriano allowed a single and run scoring double that made it 6-5 but he picked up a hold. With a 7-5 lead in the 9th Riley O'Brien allowed a two out single and picked up the save. He is the closer and Soriano or Stanek pitch in the 7th and 8th for the holds
HOU: Steven Okert pitched the 6th with a 3-0 lead, 1 on, and no one out. He would allow the inherited runner to score and pick up a hold. AJ Blubaugh pitched the 7th and 8th and allowed just a two out single in the 7th. He would also pick up a hold. Josh Hader pitched the 9th but they had a 5-1 lead and he didn't qualify for a save. Okert faced the middle of the order and he is still the best option for holds. Hader is the closer and one of the best in the game.
MIL: They had a 6-2 in the 7th when Antonio Senzatela pitched. DL Hall pitched with the score 8-2 in the 8th and Chad Patrick pitched the 9th with the same score. These guys are the back up options to Ashby for holds but on a team that is this good they could have some value.
LAD: Jack Dreyer pitched the 7th with one out and got through the inning keeping the score at 1-0. He got a double play to end the inning. Edgardo Henriquez pitched a perfect 8th and struck out the side. They really don't have a late inning righty but Henriquez could be in the mix.
ARI: Taylor Clarke allowed an inherited runner to score in the 5th that put them down 2-1. He would return and pitch the 6th. Jonathan Loáisiga had the 7th and he kept the deficit at 2-1. Kevin Ginkel had the 8th and he allowed four runs while struggling. Juan Burgos got the final two outs but allowed Ginks 4th run to score. I wouldn't worry about Ginkel. They still like to use him late. JMart should be available next game so hopefully his next appearance is in the 9th. Garcia and Morillo are still in the mix.
SFG: With a 2-1 lead Trent Harris breezed through the 6th and 7th. He didn't allow a base runner and picked up hold. Carson Seymour walked a batter in the 8th but picked up a hold. They opened up a 6-1 lead and used old friend Ryan Walker in the 9th. He allowed the first two on but got the next three out. Side note is Reiver Sanmartin was up after the first two reached so he would have seen the save opp if Walker struggled. Smith gagged last night but they used Seymour in the 8th. I still think Smith is the closer and will get the next save chance but if it is not him it could be any several guys; none of which are worth rostering.
