Welcome back to another edition of the our Fantasy Baseball Weekly Edge Report, where we break down everything you need to know for the upcoming week of season-long fantasy baseball.
We're entering the final stretch of the fantasy regular season, and every roster decision becomes increasingly important. With the fantasy playoffs either underway or right around the corner in many leagues, maximizing games played, identifying favorable matchups, and staying aggressive on the waiver wire can make a major difference.
As always, we'll cover the weekly schedule, weather outlook, teams to target, and waiver wire pickups to help you gain an edge.
🗺️ Schedule Breakdown
One of the easiest ways to create an advantage in weekly leagues is by simply getting more plate appearances. This week, only four teams are slated to play seven games, while the rest of the league has six.
👉 Remember: These teams give you max volume. That may not sound significant, but it represents roughly a 17% increase in opportunity.

🌦️Weather Notes
Summer weather continues to dominate the fantasy landscape, with warm temperatures expected across much of the country. That generally favors offense, as higher temperatures tend to help the ball carry and can turn routine fly balls into extra-base hits. Managers in weekly leagues should continue leaning into hitters when deciding between closely ranked options.
As always, scattered thunderstorms remain the biggest concern this time of year. Afternoon and evening storms can create delays or postponement risks throughout the Midwest and East Coast, while many West Coast games should enjoy much more stable conditions. Be sure to monitor forecasts later in the week before setting daily lineups, particularly if you're relying on fringe pitchers or streaming options.

🔥Top Stacks to Target
Here are a few teams that are in favorable spots for the upcoming week:
⚾ Nationals (vs COL, vs MIA)
The Nationals are one of our favorite stacks this week thanks to both volume and matchup. Washington gets four games against the Rockies to open the week before finishing with three against Miami, giving their everyday hitters seven straight games at home. That combination of maximum playing time and favorable pitching matchups makes Washington an especially appealing stack for fantasy managers looking for a sneaky source of counting stats.
⚾ Diamondbacks (vs CHC, @ SF)
We also like the Diamondbacks this week as they get seven games, beginning with a three-game home series against the Cubs before heading to San Francisco for four games against the Giants. Arizona's hitters should have plenty of opportunities to accumulate runs, RBI, and extra-base hits, and the seven-game schedule gives their everyday players a meaningful volume advantage over most of the league.
⚾ Giants (vs CIN, vs ARI)
The Giants are another team we want to target this week. San Francisco opens with three games against Cincinnati before hosting Arizona for four, giving them seven consecutive games at home. The combination of a full seven-game schedule and favorable home matchups makes the Giants an appealing option, particularly for fantasy managers looking for lower-rostered hitters who can provide a boost in counting categories.
🎯Waiver Wire Targets
We always want to be aggressive on the waiver wire. Here are a few players/situations that we are keeping a close eye on:
⚾ Kaelen Culpepper, 31% owned, remains one of our favorite upside additions for the stretch run. The former first-round pick was promoted by Minnesota earlier this month and has been given an opportunity to play regularly at shortstop. The offensive track record from the minors includes both power and speed, giving Culpepper the type of category upside that can become extremely valuable this late in the season.
⚾ Zac Thornton, 35% owned, continues to be an interesting deep-league name to monitor. The young Mets pitcher has emerged as part of their rotation mix and has shown enough potential to warrant a roster spot in leagues where starting pitching is difficult to find. He remains more of a speculative play than a must-add, but the upside is intriguing with the fantasy playoffs approaching.
⚾ Shane Baz, 67% owned, is another pitcher we're willing to take a chance on, especially in deeper leagues. His 2026 numbers haven't been spectacular overall, but the underlying talent remains intriguing, and he has shown flashes of the strikeout ability that made him a highly regarded prospect. With Baltimore's schedule giving him favorable opportunities against St. Louis and the Athletics this week, Baz is worth considering as a streamer or back-end rotation option.
⚾ Luke Weaver, 15% owned, is back on our radar after joining the Pirates at the trade deadline. Pittsburgh acquired Weaver as part of a major bullpen overhaul, and there is legitimate fantasy appeal if he continues moving into higher-leverage situations. He is worth a speculative add in leagues where saves are at a premium, particularly if the Pirates continue to give him opportunities late in games.

We're officially entering the stretch run, and the margin for error is getting smaller every week. Maximizing games played, taking advantage of favorable matchups, and staying aggressive on the waiver wire can provide a significant edge over managers who simply set their lineups and wait.
This week, prioritize players on seven-game schedules, particularly the Nationals, Diamondbacks, and Giants. Monitor weather as lineups lock throughout the week, and don't be afraid to make aggressive waiver claims when playing time or bullpen opportunities open up. At this point in the season, a handful of extra plate appearances or one unexpected save can make a major difference in the standings.
