Bullpen Notes🗒️(7/2)

PIT: They had a lead for most of the game and it grew in the later innings. Soto pitched the 8th with a four run lead and Montgomery pitched the 9th with a five run lead. If you want to look into this a bit it appears Montgomery is the most likely to get a save chance. Santana has been awful and Soto is out for now. It's risky but if you are desperate he might be the add in this bullpen. My feeling is that we see a committee based off matchup though.

PHI: Rough bullpen day for the lesser guys in. They ended up giving up 6 runs in 5 innings. José Alvarado took the loss allowing two runs in the 7th. His ERA is into the 6's now so it is safe to say that Kerkering is the 8th inning man. Sweet Lou Trivino got hit up in the 8th as well with the team down. They need Keller back or else they will need to bring in some bullpen help. A high leverage LHP would be big.

MIA: They left Coors with a split and took a beating today. Calvin Faucher was the main victim of anyone who would potentially be rostered. He gave up four runs in the 6th. I wouldn't add him but if you need holds he could be a low level option.

COL: Like I said it was a blowout but Brennan Bernardino went from picking up a save last night to pitching in the 5th and 6th tonight. He ended up getting the win so if you added him an a whim you got something out of that. Herget is the unofficial closer and the only guy I would consider rostering from this bullpen.

CWS: They had a lead for a majority of the game so we got a look at the bullpen. Chris Murphy was the 1st man in and got a couple outs in the 4th and got through the 5th. Sean Newcomb came on in the 6th and allowed a run. He was struggling to throw strikes and if he had been I think they would have used him for another inning. Instead they turned to Brandon Eisert who pitched the 7th allowing another run and making the game 5-4. Necomb and Eisert picked up holds. Grant Taylor was rested enough to come on for the 8th and pitched decently and they obviously brough him back for the 9th. That didn't go so well as he walked the leadoff guy on four pitches and got behind the next guy 2-0. He struggled though that AB getting a fly out but allowed a first pitch homer to the next guy that ended the game. Taylor will never get consistent saves if he is pitching multiple innings and this blown save isn't ideal but it shouldn't hurt him too much. My guess is still Hudson as the most likely to see a save but really it could be Domínguez or Hicks as well. Taylor is still in the mix on days he can throw. I cant trust anyone here right now.

STL: The bullpen got 25 outs after the starter got smoked in the 1st. They took a big lead in the 7th and Gordon Graceffo who pitched the 6th picked up the win. Romero and Soriano pitched the 7th and each allowed a baserunner. At this point it is nice to see those bullpen guys getting scoreless innings in.

ATL: Things were going well until the 7th inning when they allowed 7 runs. Tyler Kinley had pitched in the 6th and he faced three batters in the 7th allowing all of them to score. That put them down 5-3 and unfortunately they brought on Dylan Lee who didn't fare any better. He ended up facing four and three of them scored. Ian Hamilton finished off the inning and allowed one of his own runs to score. No worries about Lee here it was a tough spot after pitching last night. He is still a top of the line option for holds.

TBR: Booser was the first in for the 7th and allowed a solo homer. That made the score 5-2. Garrett Cleavinger pitched the 8th allowing a hit and picking up a hold and Big Bad Bryan Baker had the 9th striking out one and picking up the save. Two of the better option in the game. Baker is looking like a monster at this point.

DET: The bullpen continued to be trash. They were down for all the innings pitched today so take it with a grain of salt. Drew Sommers came on with two outs and no one on in the 7th and didn't record an out. All five guys he faced reached and three of them scored. They brought Kenley on after that and he walked a guy before getting out of the inning. That was all for him. Finnegan pitched the 8th with the team down 9-4 and he allowed a solo homer and a couple hits. Seems like a usage day for Kenley and he should still be the closer but we are getting into who knows range with how Hinch is managing. He should be seeing a pink slip soon if you ask me.

TEX: It was close for the early bullpen innings and then they got ahead big late. Tyler Alexander, Peyton Gray and Robby Ahlstrom managed to get through the 6th and 7th with each guy getting a hold and two outs. Alexander and Gray let a couple guys on each. After that Winn pitched the 8th and gave up his normal run. He continues to struggle. Gavin Collyer pitched the 9th his first appearance since being called back up. Junis and Latz are the only guys to roster in this bullpen though if your league is deep enough the group in the 6th and 7th could come into play.

LAA: They were down 1-0 when the bullpen took over. Samy Natera Jr. got the last out in the 6th with the bases loaded so that should tell us something about what they think of him. Sam Bachman pitched the 8th and he didn't have much trouble. He hadn't pitched since the 27th so this was just a work inning. It does seem like a committee but I think Bachman is the most likely to see a save. I cant imagine Yates will be on the team much longer though he is in the mix for saves.

SEA: Eduard Bazardo pitched a perfect 8th striking out two and picking up a hold. He has been great late in the game. Andrés Muñoz came on for the 9th with a 1-0 lead and he picked up the save. He did allow a leadoff walk and a couple hits but picked a guy off which saved him. Not every save is going to be easy so this was still a decent inning and Munoz is still moving up the rankings.

SDP: Jason Adam hit the IL with a shoulder strain. This is bad news as these things can be quick or season ending. We will wait for more info in the coming days. No need to look at the box score as it did not go well for the bullpen. German Marquez is back so there is that.

LAD: They used most of the bullpen today after not using any of it yesterday. They went from being down 6-0 to winning the game 12-6. Hurt and Dreyer were the only two guys who didn't see action. The bullpen put up scoreless innings until the 9th when Paul Gervase was brought in to try and get the final three outs. He didn't and got pulled for Tanner Scott who gave up a hit that scored a Gervase run. Sucks to have to use Scott in this one but in the end he got the final out.
