Bullpen Notes🗒️(7/8)

SFG: They got mauled but Ryan Walker gave up three in the 9th. At this point he shouldn't be on a major league roster let alone a fantasy one. Please cut him.

BAL: They lost but we did get an idea of how they would like to use the bullpen. Down 4-3 in the 6th they turned to Rico Garcia. He got out of the 6th and came back on for the 7th. He allowed two guys to reach before getting pulled in the 7th and both guys scored. Grant Wolfram got crushed in the 7th as well allowing both Garcia runs and three of his own. They cut the lead to 9-7 going into the 9th and Tyler Wells pitched. He had no issues against the top of the order. Wells is the closer here and if you need saves I would add him. Garcia has fallen out of favor right not but after the deadline he might still be worth something.

CHC: Drew Pomeranz was the first out of the bullpen picking up a hold and allowing two runs. He got two outs in the 6th but returned for the 7th and allowed a homer before putting two more on and getting pulled. Last nights closer Trent Thornton got the final out of the inning but allowed a single that scored a Pomeranz run. With a 9-5 lead in the 8th Thielbar allowed a couple homers to make it 9-7 before getting out of the inning. Jacob Webb had the 9th against the meat of the order and picked up the save without allowing a batter to reach. I still think Webb is the guy here but he might only see 75% of the chances since they seem to like to use him in big spots. That opens the door for others specifically Thornton to pick up the occasional save.

ATH: They are 1-9 in their last 10. Tough to get an idea of who the closer is with numbers like that. Barnett pitched in the 6th today while they were down 6-1. Until they start winning you'll see the potential closers pitching all over the place. For what it is worth I still think Alvarado is in the mix.

PIT: Mason Montgomery pitched the 7th with the score 0-0. He was facing the top of the lineup and allowed a single with broke up the perfect game. They went with Dennis Santana in the 8th and after getting a couple quick outs he allowed a double and a two run homer. Isaac Mattson pitched the 9th and allowed another run to put them down 3-0. It is very likely Soto was going to see the 9th tonight if they had a lead or the game was tied. ATL does have a lot of LHB's so that might have factored into the usage. Has to be Monty or Soto right now since Santana sucks.

ATL: Fuentes had the 6th with the game tied. Dodd took the 7th and ended up picking up a win. Lee pitched the 8th and got a hold. Iglesias pitched and closed the game out in the 9th picking up a save. Fuentes and Iglesias were the only two guys to allow runners and it was one for each. This is a very strong bullpen even without one if its top guys.

TBR: They called on Cole Sulser in the 7th with one out and a guy on and he allowed a hit but got out of the inning. He went on to pitch a perfect 8th picking up a hold. Nice to see him having some success again as he was pretty solid before getting hurt. In the 9th they turned to Big Bad Bryan Baker with a 3-0 lead. After allowing a leadoff single he struck out the rest of the batters he faced to pick up the save. This guy is a monster and keeps getting better. One of the best in the game.

MIA: Nice game for the bullpen tonight as they got through the final four innings with out issue. Cade Gibson was the first on with the score 2-0 and he pitched the 6th and 7th picking up a hold. Michael Petersen pitched the 8th without allowing anyone to reach and picked up a hold. Pete Fairbanks pitched the 9th allowing just a single but protecting the 2-0 lead to pick up the save. Those last two guys are the only two I would roster in this bullpen.

PHI: They got crushed but it was a lot of damage to the bullpen. Tanner Banks continues to be bad since being called back up. He allowed four runs including three homers in a row. José Alvarado got beat up in the 6th allowing four runs as well. He can be cut as he shouldn't be seeing any type of high leverage spot right now. The only bright spot was Brad Keller returning and pitching the 7th allowing just a two out walk.

KCR: Matt Strahm got out of the 7th in what was a 1-1 game. After using most of the bullpen yesterday they turned to Alex Lange in the 8th with the game still tied. It went horribly as he ended up being charged with 5 runs. Both bad outings since becoming the closer have occurred outside the 9th. He is still the closer here and I am not worried about that.

NYM: Tobias Myers was charged with a blown save allowing a run in the 6th that tied the game at 1-1. He got though the 7th as well. Brooks Raley pitched the 8th and picked up a win despite allowing a one out double. Xzavion Curry pitched the 9th with a 6-1 lead and allowed a run. The big news on the night was that Luke Weaver was going to pitch the 9th. The game might could have been tied but there was no sign of Williams when they took the lead. They sat Weaver down after they got the bigger lead. I would be adding him everywhere but in holds leagues he is already gone. I don't think Williams is out but it is interesting to say the least. Maybe we'll get some more information tonight or tomorrow on why the weave was up.

CWS: Seranthony Domínguez pitched the 6th again and allowed just a walk. Bryan Hudson pitched the 7th hitting a batter. They were down 5-0 so not great for either guy. Right now Grant Taylor and Sean Newcomb are the two guys you want to have on your roster if you are looking for saves.

CLE: They needed all but one guy from the bullpen tonight. Colin Holderman got four outs in the 4th and 5th without allowing a base runner. The score was tied at 3-3. Tim Herrin got two outs in the 6th before getting hit with a liner and removed. Shawn Armstrong got the final out and started the 7th getting an out and walking two batters. Erik Sabrowski came in and couldn't find the plate walking all three batters he faced and allowing both of Armstrong's runners to score. He got pulled for Gaddis who got out of the inning and let the 1st two he faced in the 8th reach. Cade Smith got the final three outs of that inning. Matt Festa pitched the 9th and despite allowing only weak contact loaded the bases and gave up the game ending single. Sabrowski still looks pretty bad but the bullpen is pretty good overall.

MIN: Travis Adams pitched the 6th. Eric Orze walked a couple guys in the 7th before getting pulled. Taylor Rogers would get out of the inning but allowed both of Orze's runs to score. Kody Funderburk pitched the 8th. With the game still tied they used Yoendrys Gomez for a full 9th inning and he ended up picking up the win. Committee here though Gomez is close to being the 9th inning man and the only guy I would roster. Now that he has pitched in the last three 9ths we'll probably see a 8th inning next outing.

STL: Romero pitched the 8th and ROB pitched the 9th. They had a 5-1 lead so neither got credited with anything other than outs. Ultimately it was just work innings and they both stay in their respective roles.

LAA: They crushed the Rangers but we saw a couple of the big names pitch and pitch early. Samy Natera Jr. picked up the win pitching the 4th and 5th. He had five strikeouts and looked very good. He could be moving back into higher leverage spots if they move guys. Ryan Zeferjahn pitched the 7th and allowed just a hit. Yates appears to be the most likely to see a save here but Bachman could be in the mix as well.

COL: Brennan Bernardino pitched the 7th with the game tied 3-3 and had no issues. They went to Antonio Senzatela in the 8th and he got an out but allowed three straight singles that plated a run and put them down 4-3. He was charged with a loss. Senzatela is nothing more than a bulk guy at this point and the closer spot is between Jordan Romano and Jimmy Herget and Romano has the a pretty big edge right now.

LAD: Jack Dreyer pitched the 7th without issue and the game tied at 3-3. Alex Vesia let the first two guys on in the 8th one on and error and the other with a double. After that he got two outs but loaded the bases with an intentional walk. They turned to the new 8th inning weapon Edgardo Henriquez who got the last out and protected the 4-3 lead and picked up the win. Tanner Scott picked up the save without issue in the 9th getting though the lower part of the order. Nice bounce back from his last outing and his only threat in the 9th is Edwin Diaz who continues to face live hitting.

ARI: They took a beating tonight and a couple bullpen guys got hit up. Taylor Clarke pitched the 5th allowing four runs three of which were earned. Juan Morillo pitched the 6th and allowed a couple runs as well. Last couple games haven't been particularly close so I wouldn't look too much into the usage. Kevin Ginkel and Garcia who pitched in the 4th tonight are the two guys I like the most for holds here.
