The thesis is simple—and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to argue against: Zay Flowers is primed for a career year in 2026.

New head coach Jesse Minter made one of the offseason’s most intriguing hires by bringing in 30-year-old Declan Doyle as offensive coordinator. Doyle spent 2025 under Ben Johnson in Chicago, helping shape one of the NFL’s most creative offensive systems before earning his opportunity to call plays in Baltimore.

The fingerprints are already obvious: multiple formations, heavy pre-snap motion, creative shifts, layered route concepts designed to manufacture separation, and an emphasis on creating explosive plays.

Johnson’s offenses consistently manufactured easy throwing windows while forcing defenses to communicate before the snap. Doyle appears intent on bringing that same philosophy to Baltimore.

Motion also forces defenses to reveal coverages earlier, giving Lamar Jackson more information before the snap. Few quarterbacks are better at capitalizing on those advantages, and few receivers benefit more than Flowers, whose ability to separate quickly makes him an ideal first read against both man and zone coverage.

While Baltimore remained productive offensively in 2025, the attack became less explosive as the season progressed. Doyle’s vision appears focused on restoring that explosive element by constantly stressing defenses with movement, formation variation, and information overload.

If Baltimore’s offense reaches its ceiling, a season of 100 receptions, 1,300-1,400 receiving yards, and 8-10 touchdowns is well within reach. Even a more conservative outcome still projects Flowers as a clear fantasy WR1.
