Jac Caglianone Continues to Dominate at the Plate, Showcasing His Elite Upside
Kansas City Royals 23-year-old slugger Jac Caglianone has been on a tear over the past few weeks. In June, he is slashing .373/.453/.773 with nine home runs, 19 RBI, 20 runs, and two stolen bases. Over the past seven days, he has hit six of those nine home runs in June, and he is producing at an elite level for the Royals' offense. His season line is now up to .277 with a .857 OPS, 14 home runs, 38 runs scored, and 30 RBI.

While the plate discipline remains a bit of a concern for fantasy managers in points leagues, evidenced by his 34.4 percent chase rate (22nd percentile), 30.6 percent whiff rate (20th percentile), and 29.3 percent strikeout rate (13th percentile), his quality of contact across the board is elite. He has a .377 xwOBA (91st percentile), .280 xBA (86th percentile), .523 xSLG (92nd percentile), 93.6 mph average exit velocity (96th percentile), 16.2 percent barrel rate (95th percentile), and 77 mph bat speed (96th percentile).
All this to say, he is impacting the ball at elite levels, and his surface stats are finally catching up to his underlying data. In addition, he has a 19.2 percent pull air rate, meaning he is maximizing his power to his pull side and showing no signs of slowing down. He is quickly delivering on his first-round pedigree, as he was drafted sixth overall by the Royals back in 2024.
Fantasy managers who have held onto Caglianone after the slow start to the season are reaping the benefits, and at this point, Caglianone, especially in category formats, is becoming a must-start player across the board. He is contributing in every meaningful category outside of stolen bases. The only way things could start to go better for him is if he can get some more run production, as the Royals' offensive unit as a whole has been mediocre and has recently lost Bobby Witt Jr. (knee), Maikel Garcia (hand), and Vinnie Pasquantino (hand) to injuries.
All this to say, fantasy managers should continue to fire up Caglianone with confidence, even in points league formats during this hot stretch.
