LAB REPORTS
New Closer Ranks!!!
Last week of relative normality before the deadline.
Lab Ranks (#)🧪
Tier 1 - The Studs (7/28)
- Mason Miller (#1)
- Jhoan Duran (#2)
- Bryan Baker (#6)
Welcome to the top Bryan. You Earned it.
Tier 2 - Top of The Line (7/28)
4. Cade Smith (#5)
5. Josh Hader (#4)
6. Aroldis Chapman (#14)
7. Raisel Iglesias (#11)
8. David Bednar (#9)
9. Louis Varland (#3)
10. Jacob Latz (#10)
11. Trevor Megill (#8)
12. Andrés Muñoz (#7)
Just some minor moves in the group. You cant go wrong with any of these guys if we're being honest. Chapman has pitched well as has Bednar. Feels like both Megill and Muñoz should be higher but than I see who's ahead of them.
Tier 3 The Mids (7/28)
13. Riley O'Brien (#15)
14. Paul Sewald (#12)
15. Emilio Pagán (#17)
16. Devin Williams (#13)
This is where things start to get questionable. While these guys are still pretty solid they are more prone to the occasional blowup. Pagán has earned his way back here after the injury.
Tier 4 The Single Sick Pups (7/28)
17. Yoendrys Gomez (#23)
18. Jacob Webb (#21)
19. Hogan Harris (#33)
20. Pete Fairbanks (#21)
21. Kenley Jansen (#20)
22. Erik Miller (#34)
23. Jordan Romano (#54)
I still like Gomez and Webb and they'll move up after the deadline if they remain. The rest of the group is pretty risky. Erik Miller was the big jumper of the week going from 93 to 34 in the lab ranks and as you can see I think he should be higher.
Tier 5 Two Man Sick Pup Groups (7/28)
24. Edwin Díaz (N/A) IL
24a. Tanner Scott (#19)
25. Alex Lange (#28)
25a. Steven Cruz (#49) 77
26. Mason Montgomery (#26)
26a. Gregory Soto (#35)
27. Clayton Beeter (#25)
27a. Tom Cosgrove (N/A)
Díaz and Scott start here and this is obviously just for the week. Diaz should return to the top 10 pretty quickly. Cruz is threatening to take Lange's job. I have no idea what is going on with the Nats but Beeter should be the guy and I cant list the rest of the bullpen so Ill give you Cosgrove as the LHP option.
Tier 6 The Swamp (7/28)
28. Tyler Wells (#18)
28a. Rico Garcia (#67)
28b. Andrew Kittredge (#37)
29. Grant Taylor (#16)
29a. Sean Newcomb (#46)
29b. Bryan Hudson (#76)
30. Ryan Zeferjahn (#24)
30a. Kirby Yates (#65)
30b. Sam Bachman (#30)
I knew the swamp would grow and next week it probably will again. I hate putting BAL in here but I have to with last nights Garcia save. Taylor is the best guy in Chicago but doesn't always close. Zef is the guy here and Bachman melted in two 9ths. Joyce could be back soon as well.
