Ben Brown 6/19/26
LAB REPORTS
Ben Brown is becoming undeniable.
I will admit, I was skeptical of Ben Brown becoming an impact pitcher this season. Previously he’s oscillated between the pen and the rotation. Always seeming to be too curveball dependent. Albeit it’s a really good pitch.
This year even seemed like more of the same, to start. The Cubs were moving around his role, and there was a hot minute there where it seemed like he was even a fill-in closer candidate.
And now here we are, a couple months later. And we have a legit Starting Pitcher on our hands. You don’t need me to tell you that if you roster him though.
But for those of us who don’t, it’s a cautionary tale of personal bias creeping in to cloud our judgment, for too long. Before we can realize that we even missed anything at all. This guy is a stud right now, and was likely available for the taking in every single league out there.
How do we avoid bias?
This personal bias issue is one of the reasons I created LFX. I wanted something I could reference that gives me a crystal clear, immediate valuation of any player. Without having to go to 7-8 different websites.
Because let’s be clear, I was only doing that for the guys on my team or the guys I believed in. I was never going to go spend 10 minutes looking up Ben Brown just to prove that I didn’t like him. And so, I was missing the mark on guys like this.
Now, LFX makes it easier for us to spot them. I still chose not to listen in the deeper league I should have, instead prioritizing the prospect chasing craze. I’m happy with what I ended up with at least. Live and learn.
